Subscriptions & pricing

How much does ParentRecall cost?

After your free trial, ParentRecall is £2.99 a month or £29.99 a year (the yearly plan works out cheaper — a bit over two months free). We show local pricing in a few other currencies too: $3.99 / €3.49 / CA$5.99 / A$5.99 / NZ$6.49 a month, or $39.99 / €34.99 / CA$59.99 / A$59.99 / NZ$62.99 a year. These are fixed local prices, not a currency conversion, and the exact amount is always shown before you pay. One subscription covers your whole household.

How does the 7-day free trial work?

Every new account gets a 7-day free trial automatically — it starts the moment you sign up, and no card or payment details are needed to use it. You can add people, use Memory Practice, and try everything during the trial. If you subscribe while you still have trial days left, you won’t be charged until those days run out.

What happens when my trial ends, or if I don’t subscribe?

Nothing is ever deleted for non-payment. If your trial ends without a subscription, or a subscription lapses, your account becomes read-only: you can still sign in, browse everyone you’ve saved, and export your data — but adding, editing and Memory Practice are paused until you subscribe.

How do I subscribe, change plan, or cancel?

Open the account menu (the ⚙️ icon) and go to Subscription & billing. From there you can subscribe, switch between monthly and yearly, update your card, view receipts, or cancel — billing is handled securely by Stripe, and you can cancel at any time with no notice period. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.

Can I change the currency I’m billed in?

Before your first payment, yes — a currency picker is shown alongside the plans. Once you’ve subscribed, Stripe fixes your subscription to that currency (this is a card-processing rule, not something we control), so changing currency after that means cancelling and starting a new subscription.

Do multiple people in my household need separate subscriptions?

No — one subscription covers the whole household, including anyone you invite (see “Can I share my account?” below). There’s no per-seat charge.

Getting started & adding people

What is ParentRecall, exactly?

A private memory aid for parents. You save the people around your child’s life — classmates, teachers, coaches, other parents at the school gate — grouped into clubs or classes, with a friendly avatar and a quick “memory jog” (a harmless detail like “curly hair, sits front-left”) so names and faces actually stick. Nothing is public or shared outside your household.

How do I add someone?

Open a club or class and use Quick add, or add one person at a time with their name, who they are, a memory jog, and a birthday if you know it (day and month only — see below). You can build out their avatar — hair, hair colour, facial hair, glasses — any time.

I’ve got a whole class list to add — do I have to type it all in?

No. From Add everyone at once, download the import template (a .xlsx spreadsheet), fill in a row per person, and upload it — anyone already in that club is skipped automatically. A single column of names works too if that’s all you have. It’s the same format as your data export, so an export can be edited and brought back in.

Why does the template only ask for day and month for birthdays?

By design. ParentRecall is for remembering other people’s children, so we deliberately keep what you store about them minimal — day and month is enough to remember a birthday, and we don’t ask for (or store) a year.

Why is the surname shortened to 3 letters?

Same reason — privacy by default. Type a full surname if you like; ParentRecall automatically keeps only the first 3 letters (“Smith” becomes “Smi”), enough to tell people apart without storing a full name for a child who isn’t yours.

What can I put in the “memory jog” field?

Appearance and personality only — the harmless detail that makes a face stick, like “curly hair, loves dinosaurs” or “identical twin, no glasses.” It’s capped at 80 characters. Please don’t enter health, medical, religious or safeguarding information about a child — see Child Safety Standards.

Can I use a real photo for someone’s avatar?

No — and this is intentional. ParentRecall never stores photographs of children. Every avatar is a generated cartoon face you customise (hair style and colour, facial hair, glasses), never an uploaded image.

I made a mistake, or want to remove someone — can I undo it?

You can edit anyone’s details at any time. Removing a person or a club is permanent and immediate, so there’s no accidental-delete recovery — if you’re not sure, export your data first (see below) as a backup.

Memory Practice

What is Memory Practice?

A 30-second daily warm-up on your home screen — a handful of quick questions using the names, faces and memory jogs you’ve already saved, so they actually stay fresh instead of fading between school terms.

Do I need enough people saved before it works?

Yes — add a memory jog or a customised face to a few people first; Memory Practice needs something to quiz you on. If there’s not enough to work with yet, it’ll tell you rather than show an empty quiz.

What’s the streak flame next to Memory Practice?

It counts how many days in a row you’ve completed a practice. It resets if you miss a day — a gentle nudge, not a requirement.

Your account & security

Can I share my account with my partner?

Yes. The account admin can invite one other person (a partner, co-parent or carer) from the account menu — up to 3 people total on a household. Everyone shares the same private lists. Only the admin can remove a child or club, export data, or delete the account.

I’ve forgotten my password.

On the sign-in screen choose Forgot password and enter your email — we’ll send a reset link, valid for one hour and usable once.

Why was I signed out when I signed in on another device?

For security, ParentRecall only keeps one device signed in at a time per person. Signing in somewhere new automatically signs out wherever you were signed in before, and that device shows a message explaining why the next time it’s used.

What is two-step sign-in?

An optional extra layer of security, toggled in the account menu. When it’s on, signing in on a new device also requires a one-time code emailed to you, in addition to your password.

Can I get my data out?

Export my data in the account menu downloads everything as a spreadsheet (CSV) at any time, in the same format as the import template, so it opens cleanly in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.

What happens if I delete my account?

Deletion is immediate and permanent — your account and everything in it (and, if you’re the admin, your partner’s access too) is erased. There’s no recovery, so export a copy first if you might want it. You can delete from the account menu or at parentrecall.com/delete-account.

What if I just stop using ParentRecall without deleting it?

Accounts that haven’t been signed into for about 12 months are automatically deleted, to keep old data from sitting around indefinitely. We email a warning first, with time to sign in and keep the account if you want to.

Installing & using the app

Do I need to download ParentRecall from an app store?

No — it’s a web app. Open parentrecall.com in your phone’s browser and add it to your home screen for one-tap access, exactly like an installed app, with no app store needed.

How do I add it to my home screen?

On iPhone (Safari), tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android/Chrome, tap Install when prompted, or use the browser menu and choose Install app. A prompt for this also appears on your ParentRecall home screen until you install or dismiss it.

Does ParentRecall work offline?

You need a connection to sign in, save changes, or run Memory Practice, since your data lives securely on our server rather than only on your device. If your connection drops mid-action, you’ll see a clear message rather than a silent failure or lost changes.

Privacy, safety & your data

Who can see the people I’ve saved?

Only you and anyone you’ve invited to your household. There are no public profiles, no social feed, and nothing is ever searchable or shared outside your account.

What information does ParentRecall actually store?

First name, a shortened surname, who they are, a birthday (day/month only), an optional short memory jog, and a generated cartoon avatar — never a real photo, and never health, medical, religious or safeguarding information. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

How do I report a problem or a safety concern?

Use Report abuse in the account menu, or email [email protected]. For anything involving a child’s safety specifically, see our Child Safety Standards, which set out how to report a concern and how we respond.

Is ParentRecall UK GDPR compliant?

Yes. Pacedall Labs Ltd is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO registration ZB969483). See our Privacy Policy for what we collect and why, and how to make a data access, correction or deletion request.

Still need help?

Email [email protected] with your account email and, if something isn’t working, the device and browser you’re using — we’re a small UK team and aim to reply within two working days. Our Support page also has contact details and links to our full policies.
